Inspired by Benyamin's plastic milk carton elephant, a nice project might be to take an inverted milk carton and transform into a mask based on African masks.. A visit to see the Chapman brothers "exotic" sculptures at Tate Britain might be a good starting point for responding to the word 'tribal' and its origins as a colonial term and how we might understand it today if making an exhibition reflecting our personal identities/culture. This video, produced by primary school students in Ireland, tells the story of an Tom Crean, an Antartic Explorer, and uses lego pieces and stop frame animation. The students have narrated over the animation and made sets using general art materials. Its a simple idea that is well put together and worth trying out yourselves! You will need to plan it first and write the script.
